Good News!!!
The IRS is now allowing three tax benefits to be filed on the 2017 tax returns. 1. Exclusion from gross income of discharge of qualified principal residence indebtedness (often, foreclosure-related debt forgiveness), claimed on Form 982. 2. Mortgage insurance premiums treated as qualified residence interest, generally claimed by low- and middle-income filers on Schedule A, and 3. Deduction for qualified tuition and related expenses claimed on Form 8917. If you have already filed your return and any of the above apply to you, contact me. I can review your return to see if the above changes will benefit you and possibly get some additional money back from the IRS.
